eBay Consignments / Drop-offs
The first step we take is to determine what the market is for your item(s) on eBay. The last thing we want to do is sell an item for less than you would rather give it away for. Unless we are talking about a truck or a piano or such, you will need to bring your goods to our shop for an appraisal. Once we have determined an estimated selling price and decided to list your item(s) our service includes writing the copy for your auction(s), handling all communications, packing, shipping, and payment processing. We reserve the right to refuse listing any item at our disgression. We do not handle Travel Packages or Real Estate.
Rates
Our commission rate is 33 1/3% (one third) of the first $1,000 of the final selling price per item and 20% thereafter. There is non-refundable $5 listing fee per item as well. We cover all listing fees, ending costs, and credit card processing premiums. Cars and boats have a different fee structure on eBay. We take a 10% commission on all vehicle auctions but require you to to cover the listing and closing fees (generally $40 each regardless of price). We go to great lengths to ensure that the items we list will sell, but ultimately it is up to the marketplace. If the item does not sell we will either re-list it, or return it to you.
Payment
We generally receive payment from the buyer within 7 days and ship the item immediately. You will receive payment from The Caped Cod once the buyer has received the item and is satisfied with it. If a period of 30 days passes after shipment of your item and we have not heard from the buyer we will assume everything is satisfactory and issue payment to you.
Agreement
We ask that you sign an agreement once we have come to the terms of your listing (s). Your signature represents a contract. The Caped Cod promises to fulfill its obligations as your E-Bay broker. We will be happy to answer questions. Please be sure to read our terms and understand them before signing on the bottom line.
